Get Safety Equipment
The first safety tip to follow when traveling with your RV is to install a few fire extinguishers and smoke alarms in your camper.
Be strategic about putting a smoke alarm towards the front of your vehicle and the rear, and make sure the devices work. You will also want to keep a fire extinguisher near the kitchen, one at the back of your RV, and one in a storage compartment.
Cook With Care
Unfortunately, most RV fires tend to start in the kitchen, so be extra cautious when cooking inside your camper.
Be sure you keep your kitchen clean and free of clutter and keep flammable items, like paper towels and curtains, far from any heat sources. You will also want to check burners before leaving the kitchen and switch off any appliances after using them.
Have a Fire Plan in Place
More importantly, you should have a fire plan and let your passengers familiarize themselves with it. Ideally, you should have two escape routes in your camper and identify a spot at a safe distance from your RV where you can all meet.
